Common questions

Does ExCap replace QuickBooks?

No — ExCap is the receipt-capture tool you wish your accounting app was. Most users hand their ExCap year-end ZIP to a CPA at tax time and never touch QuickBooks themselves.

How does my accountant get my data?

Two ways. The CSV export is great for quick sharing or QuickBooks import. The Pro audit-bundle ZIP includes the spreadsheet plus every original receipt image — IRS-ready, never expires.

Will my receipts be safe if I cancel?

Yes. Download a Pro audit bundle before you cancel and you have a permanent self-contained archive. Even on Free, your CSV export works any time.

Does it need an internet connection?

For OCR and saving, yes. We don't do offline processing yet — receipts uploaded with no connection get retried when you come back online.

Why is it a phone app, not desktop?

Receipts happen at the cash register, the gas pump, the lumber counter. The phone is in your hand; the desktop is back at the office. ExCap is built for that moment.
